CONCEPT
Jean-Marie Minazio offers an intervention
on three tunnels situated in the Principality of Monaco.
This project consists in "dressing up" the inside
of the Louis II tunnel, as well as the "tunnel du Palais
" and the "tunnel des Guelfes". |
|
By way of a purged representation of the sea and of a blue sky
speckled with clouds, the artist intends to cover the totality
of the ceiling and the walls of the "tunnel des Guelfes"
(192*11, 4*4.82 meters), as well as the Louis II tunnel's ceiling (371*13meters)
and the side walls of the "tunnel du Palais"(183*4.38
meters).
|
For a few years, the artist's intervention has been inscribed
in a process of constant embellishment of our urban environment,
in order to see our cities "differently", to have
a new outlook on our urban infrastructures, an outlook tainted
of poetry, dreams and journeys.
Through this installation, Jean-Marie Minazio allows the users
of the tunnel to take an uncommon and soothing route, far from
the feeling of confinement and worry usually associated to the
taking of tunnels. The tunnel now becomes an art gallery available
to all.
A cold and austere infrastructure turns into a pleasant stroll.
For the artist, the introduction of modern art in public spaces
of the Principality of Monaco participates in the will to change
and increasing the standing of the city, via the proposal of
innovative and modern artistic work, with the use of new technologies.
The repossessing of contemporary architecture by the artist
gives a new feeling and aspect to the infrastructures, brings
us to reflect on our everyday environment which instead of being
paralysed and forgotten is now in a perpetual evolution process. Art offers its services to the aesthetic enhancing and the future
of Monaco.
Thus, Jean-Marie Minazio insufflates a touch of mystery
and universality only artistic creation and the spirit of the
Principality Monaco possess, "Monaco Spirit"
