CONCEPT
Dressing study called for by the city hall, before the definite selection of "hard" materials for the repairing of the building.
Jean-Marie Minazio offers to dress up the exterior of Nice's Modern Art museum. Via a monumental installation ( printing on canvas) and under the shape of a "trompe-l'oeil" ( a sham), the artist offers to integrate a representation of nature in the urban landscape. This work, purged and dreamlike creates an opening, a window on natural elements and makes us take conscience of the fragility of the environment, which is always threatened. By mixing perspectives of the image to those of the museum's architecture, the artist wishes to recreate a natural environment, original and wild, in the urban environment. The symbolism of the air, of the clouds and of the wild grass is used to create and reinforce a feeling of flight and interrogation. The artist's intention is to play with oppositions: Pureness of the air/ Urban pollution, Unlimited natural environment/Closed urban space…
The spectator is confronted to an ephemeral work of art, emblematic and strongly related the origins. This way, the artist plans on inducing a cultural questioning of the public on man's place in the environment, via an artistic proposition available to all, o utside the museum and at the same time linked to it. This work is related to the work on the Louis Nucera library (Head in the clouds) and inscribes itself in the same artistic problematic : Binding together cultural, historic, dream arousing spaces (museums, libraries…), and artistic works which share the same concepts and raise the same questions.
